Fibre laser upgrade: more power for your existing machine
New sheet thicknesses, shorter cycle times – and the existing source is no longer enough? A power upgrade keeps your machine and moves the source to a higher power class.
When an upgrade makes sense
- Your parts are shifting to thicker mild or stainless steel.
- Cutting speed on thin and medium sheet limits your capacity.
- Machine bed, drives and control are in good condition.
Technical scope
- Feasibility
- Checking whether mechanics, cutting head, fibre cable and cooling are rated for the higher power.
- Laser source
- Installing a fibre laser source of a higher power class (e.g. IPG, Raycus, MAX, JPT).
- Cutting head
- If needed, switching to a motorised autofocus head (e.g. Raytools, Precitec, BOCI).
- Cooling
- Adapting or extending the dual-circuit chiller for the new source.
- Parameters
- New cutting parameter library and test cuts in your materials.
What you can realistically expect
More power extends the thickness range and increases cutting speed – how much depends on material, thickness, assist gas and machine dynamics. We state concrete values after the feasibility check for your machine.
